Books by Jane
I write stories set in the late nineteenth century, the period most people think of as Victorian. I mostly write mysteries, although I also love a good ghost story or a Victorian gothic and would like to write more in that vein. My mystery series reflect my interests—I write about the challenges women faced in that era, and reflect my fascination with a time when both technology and attitudes were starting to undergo a radical change that wouldn’t really be evident until many decades later.
And, because of my fondness for Victorian novels, I like to include murders, narrow escapes, wildly obstructed romance and things that go bump in the night, so you can expect some drama. I write to entertain; I write the kind of story I turn to when I want to relax. My settings are American or English, sometimes with a French connection.
